SUMMARY:Lafayette Days
DESCRIPTION:There is only one place that can claim to be where the Marquis de Lafayette first set foot in America. That was in Georgetown County, North Island on June 13, 1977. As such, the Georgetown County 250 Committee is honored to help coordinate what will be a globally recognized event honoring the beginning of  Lafayette’s journey into the annals of American History.\nSave the dates to celebrate Lafayette Days, June 12-13, 2027. The primary events will include the Lafayette Ball, a reenactment of Lafayette’s landing on the shores of Winyah Bay and visit with Major Benjamin Huger and family, followed by a parade and unveiling of the refurbished and relocated Lafayette statue and Highway marker, to which world and nation-wide dignitaries will join the historical celebration.\nMore details to be confirmed.\n
